Apple has warned Parler of an imminent ban due to "serious App Store guideline violations," the same violations Apple appears to also be breaking.
BREAKING UPDATE: Twitter permanently removes Trump's account!
Forbes reports that tech giant Apple Inc. has warned conservative-friendly social networking app Parler that "unless it moderates and removes content that encourages illegal activity, it could be banned from the App Store."
Parler executives have 24 hours to respond with a moderation improvement plan, according to a copy of Apple’s email provided to Buzzfeed, says Forbes.
"We require your immediate attention regarding serious App Store guideline violations that we have found with your app, Parler," reads the letter.
"We have received numerous complaints regarding objectionable content in your Parler service, accusations that the Parler app was used to plan, coordinate, and facilitate the illegal activities in Washington D.C. on January 6, 2021 that led (among other things) to loss of life, numerous injuries, and the destruction of property," the letter continued.
If Parler gets banned for being "used to plan, coordinate, and facilitate" illegal activities, then Apple should get banned because criminals use Apple products like the iPhone to text, call, email, and send other forms of Apple smart device communication to commit crimes too.
So does Twitter. And Facebook. And Google. And Microsoft.
Is Apple going to threaten them with bans too?
The letter goes on to say, "The app also appears to continue to be used to plan and facilitate yet further illegal and dangerous activities."
Is Apple going to send itself a threatening letter every time a criminal uses an Apple product to plan a crime?
Apple, you've got 24 hours to respond with a moderation improvement plan to keep criminals from communicating with your products.
